Now
you're in trouble! Ryoko tries to intervene, and she gets hurt
and spirited away, so you have to fight this out without her.
And she's got a massive Mecha weapon! Best choice for this combat
are Tenchi, Washu, Grandpa Masaki and Ayeka, both for hitting
power and healing abilities (in the case of Washu and Ayeka).
Keep out of range until you can "power-up". Once you've
all transformed, approach bit by bit. You will know when you're
in her range of sight when she lobs a grenade at you. Use Tenchi,
as he can absorb more damage than the others while in his Jurian
battle armour. Then have the others disable the machine's limbs
as quickly as possible - Washu's needle and Gramps' martial arts
skill help a lot there. Have Tenchi use his strongest power on
the centre. If he runs out of Ki energy, quickly have the others
attack from the places the limbs were in.
Once you've wrecked her machine, Kusumi runs off. Shitsuki, waking
up from her fight with Ryoko, joins your party - she obviously
didn't like being called "useless" by Kusumi . She cannot
"power-up" but is a powerhouse in her own right, especially
the energy balls she gets as "choice 2".
Once the battle is over, Ryo-Oh-Ki will take spaceship form and
head for Kusumi's lair to rescue Ryoko. While you're aboard her,
you cannot use Ryo-Oh-Ki.
Now choose your characters carefully - you get several alternating
fights while aboard, and your first choice of characters will
determine what characters your party consists of. Choose a mix
of both strong and weak characters to avoid being too weak to
win any of the fights, and have Ayeka in one party and Washu in
the other to help with healing. The battles are straight one after
the other, so expect a tough time.
Finally, you arrive in Kusumi's lair in the Moon. Naturally, you
don't get a cheerful reception - you get into yet another fight,
but at least here you can control which characters will join the
fight once more. Go through the fortress, making sure that most
of your characters are now levels 7 and 8 (maximum) before the
next encounter.
After another fight with Kusumi and a similar Mecha weapon to
the one you destroyed before, you meet Ryoko again - but she's
being controlled by Kusumi and attacks the party, along with clones
of herself. DON'T attack Ryoko herself, or you will end the game
prematurely - fight only the clones. Once they're dead, she will
rejoin your party, now free to think for herself again.
Keep going until you meet Kusumi again. She teleports your party
away, where they have to get into a few more fights (including
several rabid cabbits!) before meeting her again. The machine
she's got is really deadly this time, far bigger than the others!
Use the same strategy as the other one, but ensure Tenchi is able
to use hisLight Hawk Wings power this time, as this machine can
pack a mean punch! Enough damage to the centre, and the combat
is over.
This time, Kusumi is really angry. She summons several Shitsuki
clones and attacks directly this time. Keep your party at the
end of the screen, where they will take on the clones without
being attacked by Kusumi. The combination of all opponents would
be deadly, so this is essential.
Once all the clones are defeated, approach Kusumi and attack,
using all maximum firepower. The best people to use for this fight
are Tenchi (for his Light Hawk Wings), Ryoko (for her most devastating
spells), Washu (her needle can still do a lot of damage), and
Grandpa Masaki (who by now is a virtual one-man army). Strike
as soon as possible, before Kusumi can do some real damage, as
she can blast even the strongest characters if she can hit them
twice with her lightning attack.
Once she is defeated, Shitsuki approaches Kusumi and kicks her,
asking who is "useless" now. Satisfied that Kusumi is
no longer a threat, everyone leaves.
After a long sequence showing the party going back home aboard
Ryo-Oh-Ki, they are seen once more chatting at home, where Ayeka
and Ryoko suddenly start arguing again. They're left to fight
each other, with Mihoshi looking on in panic, finally turning
on the waterworks. Sometimes, if you've done really well, Tenchi
will try to pull them apart instead, getting caught up in the
fight, with hilarious results.
